Nothing Either Good or Bad…

Nothing Either Good or Bad…

I’ve been in a bit of a funk since we came back from New York.  That let-down of returning to my regular life after something so incredibly wonderful and outrageous.  As my friend told me, New York is the city of BIG DREAMS, and I certainly came home with my head and heart full of them.  I haven’t been able to get fully centered since we returned.

Finally, today, I had a great day at work and can feel myself easing back into a state of appreciation and allowing.  Instead of looking at what isn’t manifested yet and worrying that it won’t, I was finally able to dive into my work and spend the day doing what I love about the job I have right now.

It’s a contemplative practice, losing myself in the work.  It takes me out of this reality, into a zone beyond time and space. That sounds like a cliche, but it is true.  It’s a meditative practice that I’m sure many of you experience if you do work that you love, or if you’re an artist or creator.  All it took was a subtle shift in perception to focus on what I enjoy instead of what I dislike.

“There is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so.” – Hamlet, Shakespeare

Perception is such a powerful influence on our lives and behavior.  In the letter later this week, I’m writing about our experience as a family with a shift in perception from one year ago to today.  Really, nothing had changed except our perceptions of each other.  And that changed everything.

How are your perceptions influencing your life?
